Machine size isn't an emotional decision. It's simple math based on: soil volume, access, dig depth, timeline, and budget.

Volume of Earth to Move

Under 500 m³

EC200 is the honest choice. Done in 3-5 days. EC400 is overkill for this volume.

500 - 1,500 m³

EC200 = 6-12 days. EC400 = 3-5 days. Calculate operator hours and logistics to decide.

Over 1,500 m³

EC400 is almost always cheaper. Higher throughput, project done faster.

Site Access Width

EC200 Minimum

3.5-metre clearance — including the track and maneuvering room. Check upfront.

EC400 Minimum

4.5-metre clearance. The EC400 lowboy is longer and needs a bigger turning radius.

Narrow Lanes (<3m)

Only a mini excavator (6-tonne) fits. Contact us for a special mini package.

Dig Depth and Reach

EC200

Max depth: 6.5m. Reach: 9.7m. Suits 95% of domestic and small commercial work.

EC400

Max depth: 7.8m. Reach: 11.8m. Suited for deep basements, large ponds, tall structure work.
